Ryan Whitney, born on February 19, 1983, in Scituate, Massachusetts, is a former professional ice hockey defenseman. He emerged as a prominent player at Boston University, where he was a key member of the Terriers' team and earned All-American honors. Drafted 5th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Whitney quickly established himself as a talented blueliner in the NHL.
