Sam Etcheverry (born May 20, 1930) was a professional American football player who played as a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL) during the 1950s and early 1960s. He was born in the United States and attended the University of Missouri, where he distinguished himself as a skilled athlete. Etcheverry was selected in the 1952 NFL Draft by the Baltimore Colts, where he began his professional career.
During his tenure in the NFL, Etcheverry played primarily for the St. Louis Cardinals, where he became known for his strong arm and exceptional passing ability. He was selected to the Pro Bowl three times (1954, 1955, and 1956) and led the league in passing yards in 1954.
