Sami Kapanen, born on June 14, 1973, in Kuopio, Finland, is a retired professional ice hockey player renowned for his speed, skill, and versatility on the ice. Kapanen began his career in Finland's top league, SM-liiga, where he played for KalPa Kuopio before moving to North America to join the National Hockey League (NHL). He was drafted 87th overall by the Hartford Whalers in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
