Sanath Jayasuriya, born on June 30, 1969, in Matara, Sri Lanka, is a former Sri Lankan cricketer and one of the most influential figures in limited-overs cricket. A left-handed opening batsman and a slow left-arm orthodox bowler, Jayasuriya made his international debut in 1989 and went on to have a career that spanned over two decades. He was instrumental in Sri Lanka's triumph in the 1996 Cricket World Cup, where he played a pivotal role in both batting and bowling.
