Sandy Saddler, born on June 23, 1926, in Boston, Massachusetts, was a notable American professional boxer who competed primarily in the featherweight division. His boxing career began in the early 1940s, and he gained prominence for his exceptional knockout power and unorthodox fighting style. Saddler became a world champion when he captured the WBC featherweight title on September 13, 1948, after defeating Willie Pep, a bout that marked the beginning of a fierce rivalry between the two boxers.
Saddler and Pep faced each other four times, with Saddler winning three of their encounters, solidifying his reputation as one of the top fighters of his era. Throughout his career, he also held the title of World Featherweight Champion from 1948 to 1950 and later became the World Junior Lightweight Champion.
