Sean Payton, born on December 29, 1963, in San Mateo, California, is a former professional football player turned successful head coach in the National Football League (NFL). He played as a quarterback at Eastern Illinois University, where he set several school records before entering the NFL. Payton's playing career was brief, as he spent time with the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles in the late 1980s.
