Sergei Sverzhov, born on March 24, 1965, in Moscow, Russia, is a former professional ice hockey player renowned for his skills as a defenseman. Sverzhov began his career in the Soviet Union, where he played for various teams in the Soviet Hockey League, showcasing his defensive prowess and contributing to his team’s success throughout the late 1980s. His early achievements with the USSR national team included winning gold medals at the 1982 World Junior Championship and the 1986 World Championships.
In 1990, Sverzhov transitioned to the National Hockey League (NHL), signing with the New Jersey Devils.
