Biography
Sergejs Žoltoks, born on December 2, 1972, in Rīga, Latvia, was a professional ice hockey player celebrated for his skilled forward play. Throughout his career, he showcased exceptional talent in various leagues, including the NHL, where he played for teams such as the Ottawa Senators, New York Islanders, and the Nashville Predators. Žoltoks was known for his scoring ability and agility on the ice, which earned him a reputation as a formidable offensive player.
Žoltoks began his professional career in the Latvian league before moving to North America, where he played in junior leagues and eventually made his NHL debut in the 1995-1996 season. He garnered significant attention during his tenure in both the NHL and international play, representing Latvia in several IIHF World Championships and the 2002 Winter Olympics. Tragically, Žoltoks passed away on November 3, 2004, due to a cardiac arrest during a game in the American Hockey League.
