Shane Churla, born on June 24, 1965, in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, is a former professional ice hockey player known for his role as a tough, physical forward. He was selected in the 6th round, 113th overall, by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Churla's playing career spanned over a decade, during which he established himself as a formidable enforcer in the National Hockey League (NHL).
Churla played for several NHL teams, including the Minnesota North Stars, Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, and the Dallas Stars, compiling a career total of 698 penalty minutes over 460 regular-season games. He was known not only for his physical style of play but also for his ability to contribute offensively, scoring 45 goals and providing essential grit to the rosters he was part of. His time with the North Stars included a significant role during their run to the Stanley Cup Final in 1991.
