Slater Martin (October 22, 1925 – May 18, 2012) was an American professional basketball player known for his contributions to the sport during the 1940s and 1950s. Born in Pinehurst, North Carolina, he played college basketball at the University of Minnesota, where he gained recognition for his exceptional skills as a guard. Martin was selected by the Detroit Pistons in the 1949 BAA Draft, marking the beginning of a notable professional career.
During his time in the Basketball Association of America (BAA) and later the National Basketball Association (NBA), Martin achieved significant milestones. He played for several teams, including the Minneapolis Lakers, with whom he won four championships between 1950 and 1954.
