Sonny Cumbie, born on August 8, 1981, in Littlefield, Texas, is a former professional American football quarterback known for his collegiate success and subsequent career in the NFL. He played college football at Texas Tech University, where he achieved national recognition under head coach Mike Leach. Cumbie was a pivotal player in the Red Raiders' explosive offense, leading the team to a memorable victory in the 2006 Cotton Bowl.
After completing his college career, Cumbie entered the NFL, where he was signed as an undrafted free agent by the San Diego Chargers in 2005. He spent time on the practice squads of several teams, including the Chargers and later the NFL Europe's Frankfurt Galaxy.
