Biography
Stan Smyl, born on January 28, 1958, in Gleneden, British Columbia, is a former professional ice hockey player who is best known for his time with the Vancouver Canucks in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was selected by the Canucks in the sixth round of the 1978 NHL Draft, and he made his NHL debut in the 1980-81 season. Smyl played a total of 14 seasons in the league, establishing himself as a durable and tenacious winger.
During his career, Smyl became a fan favorite due to his relentless work ethic and leadership qualities, ultimately serving as team captain for the Canucks from 1982 to 1991. He is the franchise's all-time leader in games played and recorded over 200 goals and 400 points.
