Biography
Stephen Hauschka, born on June 29, 1985, in Santa Clara, California, is a former professional American football placekicker. Raised in a sports-oriented family, Hauschka attended the University of North Carolina, where he played college football for the Tar Heels. After going undrafted in the 2008 NFL Draft, he began his professional career in the NFL with the Minnesota Vikings, but he didn’t secure a permanent roster spot until joining the Seattle Seahawks in 2011.
Hauschka gained national recognition during his tenure with the Seahawks, where he played a pivotal role in the team’s success during the early 2010s. He was instrumental in securing the franchise's first Super Bowl championship in Super Bowl XLVIII, contributing to the team's dominant performance with critical field goals. Over his six seasons in Seattle, he established himself as one of the league’s most reliable kickers, earning Pro Bowl selections and setting several franchise records, including the most consecutive field goals made at one point.
Following his time with the Seahawks, Hauschka signed with the Buffalo Bills, where he continued to display his kicking prowess.
