Steve Benya is a former professional basketball player known for his exceptional skills as a shooting guard. Born on April 12, 1985, in Louisville, Kentucky, Benya achieved prominence during his collegiate career at the University of Kentucky, where he was a key contributor to the Wildcats’ run to the NCAA Tournament Final Four in 2005. His remarkable shooting ability and defensive prowess earned him All-SEC honors in his junior and senior years.
After completing his college career, Benya was selected in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft by the Atlanta Hawks. Over the course of his six-season NBA career, he played for several teams, including the Chicago Bulls and the San Antonio Spurs, where he was recognized for his role in the Spurs’ 2012 NBA Championship victory. Benya also spent time in various international leagues, showcasing his talent in countries such as Spain, Italy, and Turkey, contributing to his status as a well-respected veteran player globally.
