Steve Smith Sr. was born on May 12, 1979, in Los Angeles, California. He played college football at the University of Utah, where he established himself as a notable wide receiver. Smith was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the third round of the 2001 NFL Draft, marking the beginning of a prolific career in professional football.
During his tenure with the Panthers, which spanned from 2001 to 2013, Smith became one of the most explosive and versatile wide receivers in NFL history. He earned five Pro Bowl selections and was named an All-Pro in 2005 when he led the league with 1,563 receiving yards and 12 touchdown receptions.
