Steve Valiquette, born on August 20, 1977, in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, Canada, is a retired professional ice hockey goaltender. He began his junior career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Shawinigan Cataractes, where he gained recognition for his skills and determination. Valiquette was subsequently selected in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers, marking the beginning of his NHL journey.
