Stig Salming, born on October 15, 1947, in Kiruna, Sweden, was a prominent ice hockey player known for his exceptional defensive skills and offensive capabilities. Salming began his professional career with Brynäs IF in the Swedish Hockey League before making his way to North America, where he joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1973.
