Stump Mitchell, born on March 15, 1959, in Natchez, Mississippi, is a former professional American football running back. He played college football at the University of Southern Mississippi, where he earned recognition for his speed and agility on the field. Mitchell was selected in the sixth round of the 1981 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, marking the beginning of a notable career in the National Football League.
