Thad Matta, born on July 11, 1967, is an American basketball coach and former player, renowned for his contributions to collegiate basketball. He played college basketball at Butler University from 1985 to 1989, where he developed a strong foundation in the sport that would inform his future coaching philosophy. Matta began his coaching career as an assistant at Butler before moving on to coach at prominent institutions, including Miami University and Xavier University.
Matta gained national prominence during his tenure as the head coach of the Ohio State Buckeyes from 2004 to 2017.
