Todd McLellan, born on October 3, 1967, in Melville, Saskatchewan, is a former professional ice hockey player and a notable coach. McLellan played junior hockey for the Melville Millionaires and later for the Swift Current Broncos in the WHL, where he showcased his skills as a forward before transitioning into a coaching career. He was drafted by the New York Islanders in the 10th round of the 1986 NHL Entry Draft but did not make a significant impact at the professional level as a player.
Following his playing career, McLellan shifted to coaching, taking on roles with various teams in the American Hockey League (AHL) and the National Hockey League (NHL). He gained prominence as the head coach of the Detroit Red Wings' AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapids Griffins, leading them to a Calder Cup championship in 2013.
