Todd Payten, born on January 18, 1979, in Mount Isa, Australia, is a former professional Rugby League player and current coach. Known for his versatility on the field, Payten predominantly played as a prop or second-row forward throughout his career. He made his first-grade debut with the Newcastle Knights in 1997, showcasing his potential in both defense and offense.

Over his 15-year playing career, Payten represented several clubs, including the Newcastle Knights, the Sydney Roosters, and the Wests Tigers, amassing over 250 appearances in the National Rugby League (NRL). He was part of the Wests Tigers team that won the NRL Grand Final in 2005, marking a significant highlight in his career. Payten also earned representative honors, playing for the Queensland Under-19 team and appearing in the Super League for the Australian Schoolboys.
