Tom Coughlin, born on August 31, 1946, in Waterloo, New York, is a former professional American football coach and player. He played college football as a wide receiver at Syracuse University before entering the coaching ranks after graduation. Coughlin began his NFL career as an assistant coach with the New York Giants and later served as a head coach for both the Jacksonville Jaguars and the New York Giants.
Coughlin gained prominence as the head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars from 1995 to 1998, where he established the team as a competitive force in the league.
