Tom Holmoe, born on March 7, 1960, in Pasadena, California, is a former professional American football player who played as a safety in the National Football League (NFL). Holmoe attended Brigham Young University (BYU), where he was a standout athlete and played a pivotal role in the team's success during the 1980s. He was selected in the sixth round of the 1984 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers.
During his NFL career, Holmoe played for the San Francisco 49ers from 1984 to 1989, contributing to the team's two Super Bowl victories in 1984 and 1989. Known for his intelligence and strategic play, he emerged as a dependable defensive player and special teams contributor. After six seasons with the 49ers, Holmoe transitioned to coaching, further influencing the sport.
Following his playing career, Holmoe transitioned into coaching and administration, eventually becoming the head football coach at BYU from 1998 to 2002.
