Biography
Tony Gaze (February 3, 1920 – January 29, 2023) was an Australian racing driver and one of the early competitors in Formula 1. He participated in the inaugural 1950 Formula 1 World Championship season and became known for his impressive performances in a variety of racing series. Gaze drove for several teams, including the HWM team and his own creation, the Gaze Special.
Throughout his racing career, Gaze achieved notable success in the Australian racing circuit, winning the Australian Grand Prix in 1953. His involvement in motorsports extended beyond driving, as he also served as a key figure in promoting and organizing racing events in Australia. Gaze not only competed on the world stage but also contributed significantly to the development of motorsport in his home country.
