Tony Granato, born on July 25, 1964, in Downers Grove, Illinois, is a former professional ice hockey player and current coach. A standout at the University of Wisconsin, Granato made a significant impact in college hockey before being selected by the New York Rangers in the 6th round of the 1982 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Rangers in 1988, showcasing his skill as a forward known for his speed and scoring ability.
During his career, Granato played for several NHL teams, including the Los Angeles Kings and the Colorado Avalanche, where he became known for his tenacity and competitive spirit. He was a member of the U.S. national team during the 1998 Winter Olympics and had a notable role in the "Miracle on Ice" tournament in 1980, contributing to the development of ice hockey in the United States.
