Biography
Trev Alberts, born on August 8, 1970, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, is a former professional American football linebacker and current athletics administrator. Alberts attended the University of Nebraska, where he played college football for the Cornhuskers from 1988 to 1992. His standout college career culminated in being named a consensus All-American in 1993 and earning the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s top linebacker.
In the 1994 NFL Draft, Alberts was selected in the first round as the 5th overall pick by the Indianapolis Colts. He played four seasons in the NFL, representing the Colts and later the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he continued to solidify his reputation as a formidable defensive player. Throughout his professional career, Alberts recorded significant tackles and sacks, contributing to his teams' defensive efforts.
After retiring from playing in 1999, Alberts pursued a career in sports administration and broadcasting. He served as the athletic director for the University of Nebraska-Omaha and later held positions at various institutions, including the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. His contributions to collegiate athletics, combined with his legacy as an accomplished player, have solidified his status in both football and sports leadership.
