Biography
Trevor Berbick was a Canadian professional boxer born on August 1, 1954, in Kingston, Jamaica. He immigrated to Canada at a young age and began his boxing career in the late 1970s, quickly gaining recognition for his powerful punch and strong physical presence in the heavyweight division. Berbick turned professional in 1976, and over the course of his career, he compiled a notable record, eventually earning a reputation as a formidable opponent in the ring.
Berbick is best remembered for winning the WBC heavyweight title in 1986, during a match againstPinklon Thomas. He became the first man to defeat the legendary Mike Tyson, albeit in a less traditional sense, losing to Tyson when he was dethroned shortly thereafter.
