Tricia Abbott is a retired professional basketball player known for her impactful career in women's basketball. Born on May 12, 1985, in Springfield, Illinois, Abbott quickly made a name for herself as a standout player in high school, where she led her team to a state championship. After her exceptional performance, she received a scholarship to play for the University of Connecticut, one of the premier programs in women’s collegiate basketball.
During her collegiate career, Abbott was recognized for her scoring ability, defensive skills, and leadership on the court, earning multiple All-American honors and leading her team to two NCAA championships in 2005 and 2006. After graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, she was selected in the first round of the WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2007. Over her seven-year professional career, she played for several teams, including the Sparks, the Atlanta Dream, and the Minnesota Lynx, earning accolades such as All-Star selections and a WNBA championship title in 2013.
