Chandrasekhar, born on August 21, 1961, in Chennai, India, was a prominent Indian cricketer known for his aggressive batting style and significant contributions to Indian cricket in the 1980s and early 1990s. A right-handed opening batsman, he made his first-class debut in 1980 and represented Tamil Nadu in the Ranji Trophy, where he established himself as a key player and eventually became the captain. His domestic success earned him a place in the Indian national team, where he made his One Day International (ODI) debut in 1988.
Chandrasekhar's international career spanned from 1988 to 1992, during which he played 34 ODIs and scored over 1,000 runs. He was particularly noted for his performance in the 1988 Austral-Asia Cup, where he displayed his aggressive batting in crucial matches against top cricketing nations.
