Verle Sorgen (born April 10, 1946) is a retired American basketball athlete known for his impactful career in collegiate and professional basketball. He played as a forward and gained recognition for his versatile playing style and scoring ability. Sorgen was a standout player at the University of Minnesota, leading the team in scoring during his junior and senior years, and earning All-Big Ten Conference honors.
After completing his collegiate career, Sorgen was selected in the 1970 NBA Draft by the Detroit Pistons. He played one season in the NBA before transitioning to the American Basketball Association (ABA), where he continued to demonstrate his skills with the Minnesota Muskies and several other franchises. Sorgen's performance in both leagues contributed to the growing popularity of professional basketball during that era.
