Victor Trumper was an Australian cricketer born on November 2, 1877, in Balmain, New South Wales. He made his debut for New South Wales at the age of 20 and quickly established himself as one of the most talented batsmen of his era. Trumper played for the Australian national team from 1897 to 1912, becoming known for his elegant stroke play and remarkable ability to score runs under pressure.
Over the course of his Test career, Trumper scored 3,163 runs at an average of 39.04, including 16 centuries. He was particularly celebrated for his performance in the 1902 Ashes series, where he scored 1,045 runs, a feat that solidified his reputation as one of cricket's greats. In addition to his batting prowess, Trumper was an accomplished fielder and occasional bowler, contributing to his team's success in multiple formats of the game.
Trumper's legacy in cricket is profound, as he is often regarded as one of the finest Australian batsmen of all time.
