Wayde van Niekerk, born on July 15, 1992, in Cape Town, South Africa, is a renowned sprinter specializing in the 400 meters. He attended the University of the Free State, where he excelled in athletics and developed into one of the world's premier middle-distance runners. Van Niekerk gained international prominence after winning the gold medal in the 400 meters at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he set a new world record of 43.03 seconds.
