Wilbert Montgomery, born on September 16, 1954, in Birmingham, Alabama, is a former professional American football player who made significant contributions to the National Football League (NFL) as a running back. He played college football at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where his impressive performance earned him recognition and led to his selection in the sixth round of the 1977 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. Montgomery was later acquired by the Philadelphia Eagles, where he would spend the majority of his career.
During his time with the Eagles from 1977 to 1984, Montgomery established himself as one of the premier running backs of his era.
