Wilfred Benítez, born on September 12, 1958, in New York City, is a former professional boxer from the United States who is widely regarded as one of the greatest light welterweights in the history of the sport. He turned professional at the age of 15, quickly rising through the ranks with his exceptional skill set, including notable speed and ring intelligence. Benítez captured his first world title at the age of 17, becoming the youngest world champion in boxing history at that time by winning the WBA light welterweight championship.
