William Andrews, born on December 25, 1955, in Quincy, Florida, is a former professional American football player who played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). After an impressive college career at Auburn University, he was selected by the Atlanta Falcons in the third round of the 1979 NFL Draft. Andrews quickly established himself as a formidable force, earning Pro Bowl selections and gaining recognition for his powerful running style and ability to catch passes out of the backfield.
During his tenure with the Falcons from 1979 to 1986, Andrews achieved significant milestones, including three consecutive Pro Bowl appearances from 1980 to 1982. He recorded over 1,000 rushing yards in three different seasons, showcasing both his consistency and endurance. His exceptional performance led to a place among the franchise's all-time greats, where he remains one of the top rushers in the team's history, accumulating 5,986 rushing yards and 42 rushing touchdowns.
