Yutaka Fukufuji, born on September 17, 1982, in Los Angeles, California, is a retired Japanese professional ice hockey goaltender. He became notable as the first Japanese player to be drafted in the National Hockey League (NHL) when he was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the eighth round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Fukufuji's early career saw him play for the University of Vermont, where he established himself as a promising talent before turning professional.
Fukufuji made his NHL debut on January 29, 2006, becoming the first Japanese goaltender to play in the league. He played a total of 27 games for the Kings during the 2005-2006 season, showcasing his skills in a competitive environment.
