Biography
Zach Thomas, born on September 1, 1973, in Pampa, Texas, is a former professional American football linebacker who played primarily for the Miami Dolphins in the National Football League (NFL). He attended Texas Tech University, where he had a standout collegiate career, earning All-American honors. Thomas was selected by the Dolphins in the fifth round of the 1996 NFL Draft, and he quickly established himself as a key defender on the team.
During his time with the Dolphins from 1996 to 2007, Thomas earned five Pro Bowl selections and was named an All-Pro multiple times. Known for his exceptional tackling ability, football IQ, and leadership on the field, he played a pivotal role in the Dolphins' defensive schemes. In addition to his Pro Bowl appearances, Thomas recorded over 1,500 career tackles, solidifying his reputation as one of the premier linebackers of his era.
After a brief stint with the Dallas Cowboys in 2008, Thomas officially retired from professional football.
